Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception 2015

Immaculate Conception, Mercy, Family, and the EucharistIt is really providential that the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception coincides with the opening of the Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy for the world, and in the Philippines, we also the Year of the Eucharist and the Family.  Every aspect has a unified reality; even the Immaculate Conception springs forth from the Hesed (Mercy) of God.  Both the Immaculate Conception and God’s mercy emanate to the Holy Eucharist, to the Family, and to the very Church in which we are all a part of.

First, the Immaculate Conception and the Mercy of God

The whole reality of the Immaculate Conception is the work of the Mercy of God himself.  Pope Francis explains, “God did not wish to leave humanity alone in the throes of evil.  And so he turned his gaze to Mary, holy and immaculate in love (Eph. 1:4), choosing her to be the Mother of man’s Redeemer.” (MV, #3)
