Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception 2015

Image
Immaculate Conception, Mercy, Family, and the EucharistIt is really providential that the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception coincides with the opening of the Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy for the world, and in the Philippines, we also the Year of the Eucharist and the Family.  Every aspect has a unified reality; even the Immaculate Conception springs forth from the Hesed (Mercy) of God.  Both the Immaculate Conception and God’s mercy emanate to the Holy Eucharist, to the Family, and to the very Church in which we are all a part of.

First, the Immaculate Conception and the Mercy of God

The whole reality of the Immaculate Conception is the work of the Mercy of God himself.  Pope Francis explains, “God did not wish to leave humanity alone in the throes of evil.  And so he turned his gaze to Mary, holy and immaculate in love (Eph. 1:4), choosing her to be the Mother of man’s Redeemer.” (MV, #3)

In the opening of the jubilee door, we are called to experience the joy and tenderne…

Pasig City - The pilgrim symbol of the 51st International Eucharistic Congress slated to be held in Cebu on Jan. 24 - 31, 2016 arrived in the Diocese of the Pasig at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral Pasig City as part of the nationwide awareness efforts and to pray for the successful holding of the momentous event.

There are three objectives of the 51st International Eucharistic Congress:

2. Help improve our understanding and celebration of the liturgy - Full, conscious, and active participation in the liturgy

3. Draw attention to the social dimension of the Eucharist - We become the Body of Christ.

In 2021, as we celebrate 500 years of Christianity in the Philippines, let this be an opportunity for us to to renew our nation's commitment to be patterned after the …

MESSAGE TO THE YOCASOCI

Image
It is with great joy that I greet the members and advisers of the Young Catholic Social Circle of the Immaculate Conception Cathedral for this year 2015.
I congratulate you as you celebrate this year’s Paalay with the theme “Maria: Ina ng mga dukha, gabay ng kabataang Pilipino patungo kay Kristo.”
The Philippine Catholic Church takes pride in calling itself “a Church of the Poor”, admitting its total dependence on God and yet has the capacity to reach out and help the poor live humane lives.
With this inspiring thought, I would like to underscore the commitment of all parishioners, especially the young Catholics, to start living out the evangelical counsel of “poverty” and be active in transforming the lives of the poor in society.
You can start being a genuine “Young Church of the Poor” by totally relying on God alone and learning His ways.  Ask for the gift of humility and learn from Jesus so that you will be filled with His wisdom and grace.
Secondly, be a lively Church of young pe…

MENSAHE

Short history of Ina ng Poon Bato

Image
The following short history of the Ina ng Poon Bato is taken from the inapoonbato.webs.com as our reference for our devotion to Mary under this title:

In 1607, shortly after the Augustinian Recoleto Missionaries arrived in Zambales, they heard stories of the Miraculous Lady of the Aetas.Thinking this to be part of their "anito worship",the priest wanted to see the miraculous Lady.Upon seeing the image, the Recoletos missionaries  were amazed."This is unbelievable",cried the young friar."It's our Blessed Mother! How can she be here ahead of us!"the older priest said ,"She must have paved the way for our coming."

The friars transferred the image to the Church. There She stayed until after the Philippine Revolution. After executing the Parish priest,Fr. Julian Jimenez, patriot rebels took the image to their newly established church, The Philippine Independent  Church.

In 1976, a columban priest, Rev. Fr. Patrick Duggan ordered a replica made of the …

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
It is brave of you to come here in this rain … May the Lord bless you abundantly! As part of the journey of the Year of Faith, I am happy to celebrate this Eucharist dedicated in a special way to confraternities: a traditional reality in the Church, which in recent times has experienced renewal and rediscovery. I greet all of you with affection, particularly the confraternities which have come here from all over the world! Thank you for your presence and your witness!
